When 1 in 3 adults report having experienced developmental trauma, it’s important we understanding trauma is about what has happened to the body, not what is wrong with the body. We will cover the neurobiology (brain and nervous system) and physiology (body operating systems) of trauma and prolonged stress (Complex/Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and how to apply this wisdom into your teaching. This approach will also provide support with verbal cueing and set up of postures, sequencing, and creating a safe space for all students.
Teaching and Practicing Trauma-Informed Restorative Yoga can be a powerful tool in aiding the process of regulating the nervous system and help undo the effects of stress – bringing about a sense of feeling grounded, calm, relaxed and safe.

Are you looking to deepen your understanding of rest? Would you like to know how to facilitate Yoga Nidra classes? Have you been considering creating your own Yoga Nidra offerings, but are unsure where to start?
Find peace in a restless world. Yoga Nidra is currently sweeping the globe and is recognised as one of the ‘go-to’ practices for recovering from long-term fatigue. People use this practice to help fall asleep, heal chronic pain, and improve well-being. Scientific research shows us the efficacy of rest as the antidote for a restless world and a way to recover from stress, overwhelm, and burnout.
This 2-day event will support you to get started as a Yoga Nidra teacher, or help you go deeper with your teaching. Over the weekend you’ll learn:
You will receive some of James’ own Yoga Nidra Scripts to help get you started along with an abridged digital version of the Deep Rest Yoga Nidra training manual.
Come and join us for this deep, thought-provoking, and insightful weekend. You don't need to be a teacher or teacher in training to attend this event. This might be ‘just for you’ and you’d be welcome if that’s the case.
James is recognised as a world-leading authority on the theory and practice of Yoga Nidra meditation and is the author of the internationally published best seller about Yoga Nidra/Rest; The Book Of Rest (2019, Harper Collins)
He has 20 years experience of Yoga Nidra and been teaching since 2005. He created his most recent organisation, Deep Rest, in 2022. The work of Deep Rest is founded on ancient traditions and backed by modern, research-based practices.
James travels the world, giving talks and facilitating training programs. Warm, invitational, and grounded in practical experience, he has a reputation for making his teachings relevant and accessible for modern-day living and shows how the healing benefits of taking time to slow down, stop, and rest can apply to us all.

This training will help de-mystify the art and science behind deep and conscious rest. We will explore the practical side to using props to support the body. We will also look at the subtle body to help students find their way into a deeper place of rest. This training will also emphasise finding your own voice to lead and guide people in a compassionate way.
