Cacao, Breathwork and Sound Bath with Sile

Workshops

yogahub Blackrock
Sunday 22nd Septemebr
2pm - 4pm

Join Síle for a 2 hour workshop combining breathwork and sound with the healing medicine of cacao.

Cacao is a gentle heart-opening plant medicine that helps us to connect with our higher self and access our inner wisdom to bring about transformation on a mental, emotional and spiritual level. Sharing cacao and opening up to receive her gifts of healing can create strong feelings of connection, love and unity.

We will move through some conscious connected breathwork, and as we open up to the energy of the cacao, we will rest in the healing sounds of gongs, Tibetan bowls, crystal bowls and other sound healing instruments. Through these sounds and vibrations, the brainwave state is altered from our normal waking state (beta) to relaxed state (alpha), dreamlike state (theta), and even restorative state (delta). As the mind and body relax, the heart rate and blood pressure decrease and we enter an altered state of consciousness where deep healing can occur.

We will finish with some gentle stretches and tapping, and will allow time at the end for you to journal on any insights or messages you may have received during the experience.

As you will be lying on the floor for 90 minutes, please bring anything you need to make yourself really comfortable. We have bolsters and blankets, but maybe bring an extra blanket, pillow and eye mask, and of course your yoga mat, water and your journal.

If you have any questions please contact [email protected]

The ultimate evening of relaxation to soothe the nervous system.

Yoga nidra, or yogic sleep, is a powerful meditation technique. While the you rest in savasana, you will be guided through a practice that draws your attention inwards, where you can ebb and flow between the states of wakefulness and sleep, allowing your body to find its natural state of homeostasis.

A sound bath is a therapeutic and meditative experience whereby you “bathe” in sounds and vibrations produced by different instruments such as gongs, Tibetan bowls, and crystal bowls. Through these sounds and vibrations, the brainwave state is altered from normal waking state (beta) to relaxed state (alpha), dreamlike state (theta), and even restorative state (delta). As the mind and body relax, the heart rate and blood pressure decrease and we enter a state where deep healing can occur.

As you will be lying on the floor for 75 minutes, please bring anything you need to make yourself really comfortable. We have bolsters and blankets, but maybe bring an extra blanket, pillow and eye mask, and of course your yoga mat.

Rocket Yoga Workshop

Join Suzy for a fun 2-hour Rocket workshop where she will guide you through a Rocket Yoga sequence, giving time to break down those tricky postures and transitions we might only have 5 breaths to try in a regular flow practice.

What is Rocket Yoga?

Rocket Yoga was developed by the late Larry Schultz and is based on the primary and intermediate series of Ashtanga Yoga. Coined the Rocket because 'it gets you there faster', the set sequences of Rocket provide a strong, well-rounded practice of postures, adaptable for all levels, with plenty of opportunities to have some fun with inversions, arm-balances and funky transitions along the way.

Suzanne has completed multiple Rocket Yoga trainings under David Kyle and the Yoga People and is passionate about sharing the practice with the yoga community in Dublin.

Although this is a modified practice, it is not recommended for beginners.

Close your weekend with Yin Yoga, long, slow stretching, using the breath to open up joints and connective tissues in your body, followed by the practice of Yoga Nidra, or Dream Yoga, where you will experience a state of extreme relaxation through guided a meditation intended to get you to the state in between consciousness and sleeping. These are two deep practices that are said to be transformational for the body and mind.

We will begin with Pranayama (10 minutes) Pranayama refers to breathing exercises which clear the physical and emotional obstacles in our body to free the breath and so the flow of prana - life energy. Then we will practice 75 minutes of Yin.
These postures are super restful and held for long periods of time. The long, passive holds activate our parasympathetic nervous system (our rest and digest system), as they work to soften and stretch our deepest layers of connective tissue, the fascia that connects our muscles and joints. Flexibility is often improved this way as we work with the exhalation to breathe into the postures
We will end together with 30 minutes of Yoga Nidra.
This meditative practice is a simple and soft way to reduce stress. As we know, feeling well-rested is incredible and can help us so much with our day to day lives (it is said that 30 minutes of Yoga Nidra is equal to 3 hours sleep) but Yoga Nidra can also improve symptoms of anxiety and depression for many people who practice it.

The class ends in blissful, relaxed silence. It is very common for some students to drift off to sleep for a few deeply restorative minutes in this class. Don't worry I will gently wake you up when its time :)

Myo-yin workshop with Sile Nolan

Fascia is a fibrous connective tissue that permeates the body, providing structure and support. The fascial system surrounds and interweaves between all organs, muscles, bones and nerve fibers in the body. When fascia becomes tight or restricted due to injury, stress, inflammation or trauma, it can lead to pain, stiffness, reduced mobility and other symptoms.

Yin yoga is a slow practice of deep stretching which targets the ligaments, joints, deep tissue and this fascial network of the body. Myofascial release is a type of physical therapy that manipulates the fascia, aiming to relieve knots and tension in the body's myofascial tissues. MFR triggers cycles of repair and remodelling for the tissues.

In this workshop we will apply a number of myofascial techniques to different areas of the body to relieve tension and break up adhesions. We will combine this practice with yin poses to gently stress the tissues, increasing hydration in the fascia to improve physical function and mobility, and reduce pain and stiffness.

You will leave feeling like you have had a deep tissue massage, and you'll have the techniques to practice at home.

No prior experience is necessary. Please bring your yoga mat, a small towel, water and avoid wearing loose fitting tops as they hinder some of the ball-rolling techniques. MFR balls will be provided.

Any questions please email [email protected]

Breathwork & Soundbath with Sile

You will be guided through a few rounds of conscious connected breathwork before beginning your journey with the healing sounds of gongs, Tibetan bowls, crystal bowls and other sound healing instruments. Through the breath, sounds and vibrations, the brainwave state is altered from our normal waking state (beta) to relaxed state (alpha), dreamlike state (theta), and even restorative state (delta). As the mind and body relax, the heart rate and blood pressure decrease and we enter an altered state of consciousness where deep healing can occur.

Benefits of a sound bath include:

  • soothes and regulates the nervous system
  • induces deep relaxation
  • reduces anxiety and stress
  • entrains the brainwaves to a deep meditative heling state
  • promotes the body's natural healing abilities
  • stimulates cells in the body for repair and rejuvenation
  • improves sleep and brain function

As you will be lying on the floor for 75 minutes, please bring anything you need to make yourself really comfortable. We have a bolster and blanket each, but maybe bring an extra blanket, pillow and eye mask, water and please bring your own yoga mat.

Doors will open 15 minutes before the workshop start time, and unfortunately no late entry will be possible.

We will begin Pranayama. 10 minutes Pranayama refers to breathing exercises which clear the physical and emotional obstacles in our body to free the breath and so the flow of prana - life energy.

Rocket Yoga Workshop

Join Suzy for a fun 2-hour Rocket workshop where she will guide you through a Rocket Yoga sequence, giving us time to break down those tricky postures and transitions we might only have 5 breaths to try in a regular flow practice.

A 2-hour workshop combining a deep yin yoga practice and sound healing in our heated studio.

We will start with a nourishing yin practice accompanied by soothing sounds of the Tibetan and crystal bowls, and finish with a full sound immersion with a gong, Tibetan & crystal alchemy bowls, koshi chimes, an ocean drum and sansula.

Yin yoga is a gentle and meditative practice with a focus on function rather than aesthetics. It invites us to turn our gaze inwards and connect deeply with ourselves. The slow practice of deep stretching works on an energetic level to calm the nervous system, while physically targets the ligaments, joints, deep tissue and fascia and stimulates the meridian system.

The yin practice and healing sounds will all combine to help the body and mind release and let go of any stress or tension and bring the body into balance.

Bolsters and blankets will be provide, but feel free to bring anything extra for your own comfort - pillows, cushions, blankets, an eye pillow, and your own yoga mat.

Myofascial release is a form of manual therapy aimed at relieving pain and tension in the body's myofascial tissues. These connective tissues surround and support every muscle in the body. When fascia becomes tight or restricted due to injury, stress, inflammation, or trauma, it can lead to pain, reduced mobility, and various other symptoms.

In this workshop we will explore different myofascial and self-massage techniques to help release common areas of tension in the body. This can help to improve blood flow, work out pesky knots, as well as improving our mind body connection.

No experience or equipment required. You will also receive a small digital handbook outlining the techniques covered.

TRE®: Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises

TRE® is an ingenious series of exercises that safely activate a natural reflex of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, switches off adrenaline/cortisol and calms the nervous system. The body is encouraged to return to a state of balance resulting in improved wellbeing. TRE® is a self-help practice that can be used throughout one’s life and continuously support and promote personal health and growth. The involuntary movements experienced reconnect us to our bodies wisdom and healing potential. TRE® works on a neurological, physiological, psychological and emotional level.

Susan Porter is a TRE Provider/Mentor/Trainee Trainer and bodyworker. This workshop welcomes all at Yogahub interested in learning simple, effective exercises to release stress, tension and anxiety created by the repetitive muscular and nervous system patterns that keep us locked out of deep relaxation. Using practical exercises backed up by neurophysiology, you’ll experience the power of the tremor to re-set your body’s natural reflex mechanisms, balance your nervous system and promote healing.

Susan Porter will teach a simple, accessible toolkit to help students deal with the challenges of fast paced living. Anxiety, overwhelm and tension may feel normal but they are signs of a body experiencing chronic stress. TRE® is a technique that uses a series of simple exercises that stretch and fatigue the main muscles that engage during the bodies stress and trauma response. This evokes a natural tremor mechanism, one that is accessible to all mammals including humans. The tremors, when allowed to move through the body, restore us to homeostasis, bringing the person back to full health and vitality. These tremors can help to release daily stresses and tension as well as deeply held tension and trauma.

David Berceli, an expert in trauma and conflict resolution, developed TRE. TRE exercises mimic animals’ natural reflex mechanisms that allow them to let go of muscular tension before it becomes chronic stress. We can see that mammals in the wild instinctively know how to engage this tremor mechanism to restore their nervous system back to balance after a traumatic event. It helps them to release the charge stored in their body and bring the event to completion, so that they can carry on with their normal day to day behaviours, therefore no longer debilitated by the trauma.

Introduction Day to TRE® - we will explore:

* The theory of TRE®: how tension and trauma lock us into defence strategies which cause exhaustion, pain, inflammation and effect our health
* Embodiment – Grounding
* The Exercises
* Shaking and tremoring to access and re-set reflexes and habits in the nervous system
* How to start and stop the therapeutic tremors
* Skills to self-regulate and manage anxiety, stress and tension
* The importance of integration
