Beginners Introduction to Astanga (dynamic) - 6 week block with Sally Stanley

We recommend this class for absolute beginners who are looking for a faster paced, dynamic style of beginners class or those who may have been practising in the general classes and would like to try astanga.

A general class introducing you to the basic asana, breathing and mindfulness practices of astanga yoga.  This is a 6 week block of classes and once you have completed it you can move into the Mysore, level 1 or all levels classes. Your teacher will advise you.


Please note you are buying a 6 week block, once the block has started missed classes are strictly non-refundable. The cost of the block is £60

An increasing number of people attending yoga classes is over 65, which is fabulous, but it also means it's important that as teachers we understand how to adapt and design practices to really suit this demographic and keep our  classes as accessible as we can.

This CPD training examines what happens to the body and brain as we age and how this impacts the way we design our classes.  Covering in particular:

The vestibular system

Balance

Functional anatomy of the foot and ankle

Combining mat and chair yoga

You should already have a 200 hour qualification to attend this course.  A certificate will be given for 7 hours of CPD

Yoga as Therapy for Stress Reduction - A 6 week course with Terri Smyth

This 6 week course has been specifically designed for individuals who are experiencing the effects of stress. Life is challenging and demands much of us – often these demands are so great that we can feel over-whelmed, low, anxious or feel less confident in ourselves.

It is a small group class (of max 10 individuals) offering a safe, supportive, and non judgemental environment, suited to individuals who are less comfortable in drop-in or large group classes, or, who are feeling overwhelmed by stress. It is suitable for all levels, including complete beginners.

Held in our peaceful and welcoming studio, the course offers you a space to slow down, reconnect and learn to truly relax.

Yoga Philosophy for Teachers with Sarah Morrison

In this training we will take a deep dive into some of the key philosophical concepts that underpin our practice and our teaching. You will be provided with materials and glossaries of key terminology and gain a deeper but simplified understanding of complex concepts, making them easier to share with your students. You will learn

· A thoughtful overview of the Sutras with opportunity for discussion


· Appropriate ways to incorporate yoga philosophy into class and one to one teaching


· An understanding of, and awareness of things to look out for when mentioning yoga philosophy in group settings

 

This interactive workshop will involve listening, discussion, and exercises that will help you feel confident in sharing key concepts from yoga philosophy with your students. Expect some pranayama, gentle asana and relaxation to get us in the best space for learning.

Ideal for any teacher with a passion for yoga philosophy or for those keen to refresh their knowledge and discover appropriate ways to weave the concepts into class or one to one contact.
