The Yoga Garden Summer Potluck
Sunday, May 31
5:00-7:00pm
FREE!

What to Expect:
In this two-part workshop, we’ll begin with an all-levels yoga flow led by Kiera Missanelli, 500-RYT, who has been teaching at Yoga Garden for 8 years. This movement practice will open your body and calm your mind, followed by a guided meditation to help you set a clear, personal intention for your mala.
With your intention in heart and mind, you’ll transition into the art of mala-making—a sacred practice rooted in meditation and mindfulness. You’ll choose your beads from a selection of pre-strung bracelets (let the work be done for you!) and then tie your own knots. Each mala bracelet comes with its own story, highlighting the properties of the beads so you can choose one that supports whatever you need right now. As you tie your knots, you’ll infuse your mala with the energy and light of your intention.
You'll Leave With:
If you're not able to finish during class, don’t worry! We’ll send you home with detailed instructions to complete your creation with ease.
Who It’s For:
This experience is perfect for all levels—no prior yoga or beading experience necessary. Just bring an open heart and your intention.
Your Guides:
The yoga and meditation portion will be led by Kiera Missanelli, 500-RYT, an experienced and empowering teacher who has been guiding students at Yoga Garden for 8 years. Kiera’s classes combine creative sequencing, mindful movement, and approachable challenges, all designed to help students feel grounded, strong, and connected.
The mala-making and knotting workshop will be led by Claudia Iannelli of @the_mala_mama, a mala maker since 2019 who learned her craft from bead guru Sarita Strestha, a Vedic astrology reader and master mala maker. Claudia works directly with clients to design one-of-a-kind malas to support any season of life—and never makes the same mala twice.

Welcome to Prana Rising.
Prana is present in fresh air, fresh food, movement and breath. Yoga and nature work wonders for your well-being. They restore your Prana. And they create a powerful antidote to the stresses of modern life.
NATURE: You’ll spend three consecutive days in nature. Time in nature has been shown to reduce cortisol levels and refocus our mental activity.
MOVEMENT: Your body is designed to move — not sit at a desk all day. On your mat or on the trails, you’ll move your body dynamically as a remedy for modern life.
HEALTHY FOOD: Food is fuel. You’ll be treated to three fresh, high-fiber vegetarian meals each day made with nutritious, colorful vegetables, grains, fruits and seasonings so your body can rebuild.
COMMUNITY: We need human connection. Coming together in shared experiences is proven to increase happiness levels.
DISCOVERY: New experiences reshape our brains. You’ll try new things, explore different ideas, and discover what your body can do.
CALM: When you feel at ease, your nervous system heals and rebuilds your body from life’s stresses. Our retreat center is on 400 acres of private woodland in the Pocono Mountains. A perfect place to unplug and unwind.
We hope you’ll join us for Prana Rising — three days of soothing vinyasa practices, eye-opening hikes, calming pranayama, and restorative yin yoga sessions. And while you focus on your own well-being, we’ll make sure everything else is easy: delicious vegetarian meals, simple lodging options, wide open spaces to explore, and even optional spa treatments to leave you refreshed and revitalized. Everything is designed so you can unplug and reconnect with yourself!
It's time to restore your energy through yoga and the healing powers of nature. We'll see you in the mountains!

And then we pause. We settle. We take the time to savor the stillness. We allow ourselves to simply be. And when we do so, we rediscover a whole world of calm that resonates from within. That’s the essence of this three-day retreat: The Gift of Calm is your chance to experience movement in a more mindful way and then to release into the beauty of stillness.
For this very special weekend, musicians Alex and Christine Beckmann will join us for nightly sound-bath immersions — 90 minutes of natural ambient sounds, soothing crystal bowls, and restorative yoga.
You will also be treated to a master class by the Institute's own Shari Friedrichsen. 90 minutes of gentle, focused yoga that goes beyond the physical to the emotional core of your practice.
For three days, you’ll tune into mindful movement and thoughtful stillness so you can discover a quieter space within — a space of nurturing and renewal, of self-care. Through gentle yoga, mindful vinyasa, restorative, and yin yoga sessions, along with sound-bath immersions and guided relaxation, you’ll create time and space for calm.
Combine that with the Himalayan Institute’s offerings of nourishing, natural food, nature walks through fall foliage, crisp mountain air, cool, quiet nights, and optional massage services, and you’ll truly be giving yourself the gift of calm.
We hope you’ll join us. We look forward to sharing this mindful weekend with you.

But Yoga Teacher Training can be expensive and not all applicants have the financial means to do it. The Yoga Garden seeks to lower that barrier to entry by funding candidates from BIPOC populations experiencing financial hurdles to teacher training.
Please consider contributing so your gift of yoga can extend beyond your own mat to positively impact people and communities who may otherwise never have access to it.
100% of donations will go directly to fund the enrollment of BIPOC trainees in financial need. The Yoga Garden is dedicated to fostering Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in our community.
Our 2027 Teacher Training program starts on January 9. We aim to FULLY COVER THE TUITION OF TWO CANDIDATES who have already applied and are ready to start.
Thank you in advance for your contribution.
