Kids Camp at Amara will be a blend of art and yoga in a fun and relaxed environment. Activities will be open–ended and provide an opportunity for the kids to feel empowered and be themselves. Kids will learn basic yoga elements through focused breathing, play, storytelling, balance, meditation, and creative visualization.
 
We want the kids to have a stress free, magical, safe environment where they can grow and flourish

Kids teacher Kathryn Fitzgerald holds a Masters of Fine Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute, a Masters in Special Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and she is an Illinois Certified Elementary Ed and Art Teacher and a Certified Illinois Learning Behavior Specialist. She is a 200-hour certified yoga teacher through YogaWorks - ERYT (experienced registered yoga teacher) and is certified as RCYT (registered childrens yoga teacher) - through Yoga Alliance. She has over 30 years of teaching experience including 10 years as the art teacher for the onsite schools at Cunningham Children's Home in Urbana, where she began teaching Kids yoga in 2006 before creating the Kids program at Amara in 2008.
 
Olivia Atkins is a passionate yoga teacher who embarked on her transformative yoga journey at Amara Yoga & Arts in 2014 and completed her 200hr RYT at Amara in 2024. Her yoga journey started because of the physical aspect but in 2015 she realized how important breath work is. Since then, she has harnessed the power of meditation and breath work as essential tools, not only in her practice and teaching, but also in her everyday life.
By grounding herself and embracing the present moment, Olivia invites others to join her in exploring the profound benefits of these practices! She began working at Amara Yoga & Arts kids yoga camp in the summer of 2022 and has been apart of Amara’s kids yoga classes and camps ever since. Activities will be open–ended and provide an opportunity for the kids to feel empowered and be themselves. Kids will need to bring their own snack, lunch and water bottles. Siblings will be grouped together for activities if they wish so.
